2023 Change Day Career Exploration Fair

Andreasen Wellness Center (AWC) Gymnasium, Sept 14 — The 2023 Change Day Career Exploration Fair is all set to unfurl its educational canvas at the Andreasen Wellness Center gymnasium. The event, initially scheduled at a different time, has been revised to take place from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

As part of the Change Day projects, the Career Exploration Fair has extended an invitation to over 200 students from three notable local high schools: Berrien Springs High School, Benton Harbor High School, and Eau Claire High School. These students are poised to gain insights into the various departments, majors, and the myriad career opportunities available to them.

An especially intriguing participation comes from the College of Professions (CoP) under the expert guidance of Dean Kimberly Pichot, PhD. The departments of Aviation Computing and School of Business Administration will be represented under the CoP umbrella. Attendees are in for a treat, with the CoP booths promising immersive experiences like airplane simulators and an actual airplane on display. To add to the allure, emotion capture technologies, drones, robots, and vivid displays will be highlighting the diverse degree programs offered under the College of Professions.

The schedule for school participation is as follows:

  • 10:10 am – 11:00 am: Berrien Springs High School
  • 11:05 am – 11:55 am: Benton Harbor High School
  • 12:00 pm – 12:55 pm: Eau Claire High School

Adding to the academic flair, several community businesses and organizations will be marking their presence, ready to share and engage students with insights into their respective industries.

Department representatives are advised to check-in and begin setting up their booths from 7:30 am, with a completion time no later than 9:45 am. However, due to a prior event in the gym the night before, early set-ups are not feasible.

A special Change Day gathering will also be woven into the morning, taking place between 8:15 am and 9:15 am. In the midst of setting up, representatives are encouraged to make their way to the flag mall (located in front of PMC church) where they can collect their Change Day T-shirt, breakfast, lunch, and partake in the Change Day photo session.

Each booth will be equipped with a 6ft table and two chairs, with electricity access available for those who indicated the need during their Handshake registration.

Post-event, the booths will be packed away between 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. A spirit of community is expected as representatives are requested to aid in removing the floor covering, allowing for a smooth transition to the much-anticipated Change Day after party.

This grand concluding event, hosted by AUSA and CFE, will take place from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, with the venue being disclosed on the day itself. An open invitation has been extended, ensuring that all are welcome to join the festivities.

In conclusion, the 2023 Change Day Career Exploration Fair promises to be an enlightening and engaging day for students and department representatives alike. With the added zest of community participation and the anticipation of the after-party, the day is expected to be both educational and entertaining.
