School of Business Administration Impresses Future Leaders from Lake Union Academies Event

In an inspiring gathering aimed at shaping future business leaders, the School of Business Administration (SBA), in conjunction with the College of Professions departments, extended its resources and expertise to over 400 junior high school students from the Lake Union Academies on November 5, 2023. The interactive event, meticulously planned and executed, was designed to provide young minds with a glimpse into the dynamic world of business education and the various career pathways within.

The SBA took center stage with an array of innovative and informative booths that showcased their comprehensive Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs and popcorn machine. Each booth was themed around the various specializations offered by the SBA such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, international business, and management information systems, among others. Faculty members, along with current BBA students, were on hand to engage with the visitors, answering questions, and sharing insights into the curriculum and unique opportunities their programs offer.

Highlighting the practical aspect of their BBA programs, the SBA featured a range of student-led projects. These projects not only demonstrated the theoretical learning outcomes of the courses but also the real-world impact and application of such knowledge. Students from the Lake Union Academies were treated to presentations on startup ideas developed in entrepreneurship classes, marketing campaigns created for local businesses, and finance students’ analyses of real-world market trends.

The event wasn’t solely focused on showcasing educational offerings; it was also about building connections. Students from Lake Union Academies interacted with peers and professionals, facilitating a network that could support their future academic and professional careers. Workshops conducted by the College of Professions departments focused on soft skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, which are integral to the success in any business endeavor.

This initiative by the SBA and the College of Professions is a testament to their commitment to education and community engagement. By providing an early window into higher education’s possibilities, they have ignited ambition and inspiration among a diverse group of young students. As these potential future business leaders returned to their schools, they carried with them newfound knowledge, aspirations, and a broader perspective on where their academic paths might lead.
