The PhD in Business Administration is built on an 18-credit business core that deepens expertise in areas such as strategic management, economics, finance, organizational theory, and ethics. You will also complete 15 credits of advanced research methodology courses that prepare you to conduct original scholarship and contribute to the field of business.

Beyond the core, you’ll customize your degree with electives, specialized learning tracks in teacher training, leadership, or innovation, and a 12-credit dissertation that demonstrates your ability to generate new knowledge.

The program is designed as a full-time pathway with three years of coursework in residence, followed by one to two years of dissertation research. Students studying part-time work with their advisor to create a tailored sequence that fits their professional commitments.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants to the program must meet the requirements set by the University for graduate programs. 

The applicant must submit a personal statement regarding expectations and commitment about graduate study.
The applicant must have an earned bachelor’s degree in business or another field, and a master’s degree; if the master’s degree is not in business administration, additional coursework is required. 

The applicant should:
-Have a GPA of 3.5/4.00 or higher
-Submit a personal statement
-Complete an interview with a program faculty member
-Score an accumulated point value of 1200 points from a metric calculation as defined by the School of Business, if s/he is not qualified for the GMAT waivers. Contact the School of Business for more information on the GMAT waivers. The metric calculation is as follows: (GPA*200)+ GMAT= 1200. 

The Admission Committee will base its acceptance decision on the combined factors listed above.
