Yeet Fleet: Autonomous Delivery Challenge 2024

Andrews University Launches “Yeet Fleet” Challenge: A Fusion of Robotics, Business, and Innovation

Andrews University is thrilled to announce the launch of the Yeet Fleet Challenge, an interdisciplinary competition sponsored by ThinkerBox, the School of Business Administration, and the Computer Department. This exciting event brings together engineering, computer science, design, and business students to create the next generation of autonomous delivery robots, pushing the boundaries of creativity, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Yeet Fleet Challenge tasks teams of six to build a fully functional delivery robot that can autonomously navigate a simulated urban environment. Robots must solve real-world challenges like pathfinding, collision avoidance, traffic light recognition, and human detection, all while rocking a custom 3D-printed skin designed by the teams themselves. But it’s not just about the tech—students will also develop a compelling business case for their robot, exploring market opportunities in the growing world of Yeetonomics, the study of how robots can yeet (deliver) packages efficiently and profitably.

The competition is multidisciplinary, combining the expertise of engineering students to handle the robot’s hardware, computer science students to develop AI-driven pathfinding and vision algorithms, design students to create sleek and functional skins using 3D printing, and business students to present a compelling business case. Judges will score teams based on the robot’s performance, aesthetic design, and the feasibility of their business model, ensuring a well-rounded approach to innovation.

“This is an incredible opportunity for students to engage in hands-on learning,” says a ThinkerBox representative. “They’ll be tackling real-world problems and gaining experience that transcends the classroom. We’re excited to see what creative solutions these multidisciplinary teams will come up with!”

The Yeet Fleet Challenge will culminate in a final showdown where teams present their robots and business pitches. The winning team will earn not only bragging rights but also recognition as leaders in cutting-edge tech and innovation.

The future of delivery is here, and it’s being built at Andrews University!
